Timeline
This timeline starts with the point of divergence from the canon timeline. It will updated as the campaign progresses. Drop any relevant links in a comment below!
• Year 2000 - It's the end of the Wutai War. While the final battle had already been decided. The official 'treaties' are set to be signed. SOLDIER is there supposedly as an honor, but those involved understand the inherent threat of having Sephiroth and Zack Fair in attendance. There's a peace celebration afterwards but Sephiroth leaves early along with Zack. Unbeknownst to ShinRa, the two SOLDIERs are intercepted by one of the former Wutain forces. Not for battle though, but to deliver a package.
• Year 2001 -
○ ShinRa order the Turks to find new SOLDIER candidates in the wake of the mass desertion with Genesis and the successes achieved by the terrorist organization, Avalanche.
○ Zack receives a promotion to SOLDIER 1st Class in the presence of Sephiroth and Director Lazard.
○ Zack is dispatched to Modeoheim in pursuit of Genesis and Hollander. There he fights Angeal but in the middle of the battle, the Turks intervene, using high powered tranquilizers to subdue Angeal. Angeal is placed in a stasis tube and taken away to an undisclosed facility.
○ Angeal and Genesis are both officially listed as KIA. The press releases state they died defending Modeoheim from the terrorist organization, Avalanche. Lauded as company heroes, a memorial is held in their honor.
○ Sephiroth and Zack are sent on a mission to track down other SOLDIER deserters. But there's something wrong. None of them are Genesis clones and all of them are from the new batch of SOLDIER recruits. They couldn't have known Genesis. Each one of them shows various signs of mutation.
○ After a mission to protect a ShinRa scientist, Professor Rayleigh, Cloud Strife meets up with Zack Fair in private, handing him a report on SOLDIER he'd recovered during the fight. Zack takes it directly to Sephiroth when the report, only three days old, mentions a still living Angeal. There's one reference in there that catches both their attention - 'the Nibelheim facility'.
○ AVALANCHE attacks ShinRa tower. Both SOLDIER and the Turks are ordered to hunt down all insurgents while the infantry secure the perimeter. After the fight Sephiroth tells the President that he overheard two of the terrorists discussing a rally point in Rocket Town. The lie flows so smoothly out of his superior officer's mouth that Zack almost believes him.
○ Two days later, ShinRa receives the last transmission from General Sephiroth and Lieutenant Commander Zack Fair just outside of Rocket Town. The pair then head to Nibelheim where they discover the basement library and the former Turk Vincent Valentine.
